Tomatoes
Tomato is a nightshade plant that bears edible fruit originating from Mexico and Peru in South America. When tomatoes first arrived in Europe, they were initially thought to be poisonous and were grown only as decorations. Tomato is a fruit vegetable. The red fruit is categorized as a vegetable in culinary contexts. Botanically, tomato fruits are classified as berries. Tomatoes are usually red, but they can also be green, yellow, and orange.
Cherry tomatoes and tomatoes are among the most common vegetables to grow. This is likely because they are so grateful and easy to cultivate. Not to mention how wonderfully delicious they are! You don’t even need a garden or a greenhouse; a balcony, a patio, or simply a windowsill is enough.
Enjoying a sun-ripened tomato directly from the plant is unbeatable. Once you’ve tasted it, it almost becomes a necessity to grow them every year. If you don´t want to grow your own tomatoes you can find in the Farm Shops

Tomatoes contain a lot of B and C vitamins. B vitamins stimulate metabolism, the immune system, and cell division. There are tall-growing tomatoes and bush tomatoes. Tall-growing tomatoes need to be staked and "suckered." This means pinching off side shoots that would otherwise steal strength from the main stem. Bush tomatoes need neither staking nor suckering.
The tomato gets yellow flowers that then develop into green tomatoes. In the sun, the tomatoes ripen and turn red, yellow, or even black! They can be small and round, pear- or egg-shaped, or very large and ribbed.
Grated Tomato Sauce
The simplest and quickest tomato sauce is made by coarsely grating the tomatoes on a grater. Flavor your tomato sauce with a grated garlic clove, and feel free to stir in some herbs for a variation in taste.
Ingredients:
Tomatoes
1 clove of garlic
Olive oil
Vinegar
Salt
Pepper
Optional: oregano, basil, fresh chili, honey
Instructions:
Peel the garlic.
Rinse and coarsely grate the tomatoes directly into a bowl.
Finely grate the garlic into the tomatoes.
Add olive oil and season with vinegar, salt, and pepper to taste.
The sauce is perfect for grilled dishes.
For extra flavor, try adding oregano or basil. For more heat, add fresh chili, or for more sweetness, add honey.
