About Project

Kvarken Plate - Österbotten på Tallriken! contributes to the establishment of a knowledge center where food producers, food processors, artisans, experts in business, marketing, and production come together on a daily basis. The project also contributes to increasing knowledge about local food production and awareness of local producers among the residents of the Österbotten region.

In addition to highlighting local producers who actively work to produce our food, the project aims to emphasize the importance of both domestic and local food production from a preparedness perspective.

Project owner is Österbottens Svenska Lantbrukssällskap

Project duration: 1st October 2022 – 31st December 2024.

Activities within the project

Kvarken Plate - Österbotten på tallriken! is a development network that brings together actors and areas of expertise within the food sector, and promotes interaction between the different stakeholders in the field. The importance of collaboration and networking cannot be emphasized enough for successful development work, both locally and regionally.

The goal of the project is to create a knowledge center through information dissemination, where food producers, processors, entrepreneurs, and experts in business, marketing, and production can collaborate, develop, network, provide mutual support, and grow.

The project aims to strengthen a physical network and a virtual platform for collaboration and development in the food industry, as well as improve entrepreneurs' knowledge of marketing and branding. At the same time, we aim to increase cross-border cooperation between producers, the food industry, and consumers to gain a better understanding of each other's needs and preferences.

We also want to develop the existing Farm Shop Map for Ostrobothnia and establish criteria for being listed on the map, as well as create a training program for participating companies. Through the branding of "Kvarken Plate" and marketing efforts, we aim to create a new concept for food from Österbotten and foster an atmosphere of collective participation in various events such as fairs, markets, education programs, and sustainability initiatives.

Collaboration in areas such as development, product innovation, logistics, procurement, and sales will also be pursued, and a knowledge center will be established to provide our customers with all the information in one place.

  • We aim to offer a "knowledge center" to participating companies or potential participants, where they can obtain necessary information from one centralized location.
  • Additionally, we seek to increase consumers' understanding and awareness of the abundant primary and food production in Ostrobothnia.
