Kvarken Plate planned Ostrobothnian menus for the 120th anniversary

On Friday, March 22, 2024, the owner of the project, Österbottens Svenska Lantbrukssällskap, celebrated its 120th anniversary. 

The project "Kvarken Plate - Ostrobothnia on the Plate/Pohjanmaa lautasella" had the honor of planning the grand anniversary celebration held at Carpella in Karperö, Korsholm, outside Vaasa. We planned the festive food exclusively using Ostrobothnian ingredients, in collaboration with the vocational school Yrkesakademin i Österbotten (YA)

First up was lunch, which consisted of the following: 

Beef patties made from YAs beef, roasted root vegetables and potatoes from Hultholm and vegetables, cream sauce, and a fresh green salad made from vegetables from Finnes, Granholms and Närpes Grönsaker. Also served was a delicious tomato and cheese salad with sun-dried tomatoes from LivSvinn and cheese from Jukkolan and Juustoportti.

Lunch

 

The afternoon began with a welcome toast ''Archipelago Drink'' (apple must, sea buckthorn, red currants, and various spices) diluted with soda water (sparkling wine can be used).

This was followed by a mini fair with an accompanying mingle buffet consisting of:

''Gravad'' pike from Björkö and eggs from Hankmo on homemade bread, Beef fillet from YA with marinated funnel chanterelles from Bergö & homemade bread, Homemade Petit choux with local cheese from Sillankorvan yrttijuustola, Vegetable spring rolls with vegetables from Finnes vegetables and House chocolate cake

During the mingle, the Kvarken Plate-project offered tastings of:

-Archipelago treasures from Molpe
-Granholm's RTC from Maxmo
-Bigro from Närpes
These tastings were highly appreciated by the attending anniversary audience, and many great discussions took place at our table.
